Brad Horn is a photojournalist based in Carson City, Nev. His passion for photography began while pursuing a print journalism degree from the University of Nevada, Reno. Horn’s professor Joe Gosen noticed his talent for photography and convinced the college student to direct his efforts toward photojournalism. After graduating from the university with a degree in print journalism, Horn began his career writing environmental news articles along with art and restaurant reviews for the Reno News & Review in Reno, Nev. While writing for the weekly publication, he began freelancing as a photographer for the Nevada Appeal, a daily newspaper in Carson City, Nev.
In 2002 Horn was hired as a staff photographer at the capital city newspaper, where he covered breaking news, sports and feature assignments, as well as documentaries, including a three-year project exposing the life of a mother battling a methamphetamine addiction. During his seven-year career at the Nevada Appeal, Horn has won numerous state and national awards for his photography. He regularly shoots assignments for The New York Times and the Associated Press in Northern Nevada and Eastern California. His work has appeared in many publications, including the San Diego Union Tribune, Houston Chronicle, San Francisco Chronicle, Sports Illustrated, Star Magazine, Yahoo.com, Time.com, National Geographic.com, and on The Today Show and Inside Edition.
